Tech is opt-in

Entire youtube channels, blogs, and talks about what was released yesterday. A whole internet about comparing benchmarking and analyzing every new product. Discussions in forums, and social media, comparisons between brands, people taking sides. It is honestly exhausting.

I left Spotify. What happened next?

When I stopped using Spotify I tried a few different solutions until I found the perfect replacement for me. If you want the tl;dr: I now use Jellyfin. But if you want to know how I got here, follow me through each step of the way.

Public Shaming 10 years later

I was taking a walk around Valencia when I found Jon Ronson’s book “So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed” in one of those cute street public libraries. I usually check those out to see if something catches my eye and this was the first time I actually found something I wanted to read for a long time.

I remember the book being a big deal when it came out in 2015, but I didn’t know much about it. Me being a bit terminally online makes me scared of missing out on what’s happening. When I’m not online for a long period of time (basically more than a day… I know, it is that sad), I get the feeling that when I come back I won’t know what’s going on. That’s of course never true, when I come back, everything is as terrible as I left it. But I’m giving you this context because when I started reading this book, I was immediately taken aback because the book opens with stories about Twitter. Surely, 10 years is enough to make a book about Twitter feel dated. The internet moves too fast, and things are VERY different now, right? New owner, new name, more nazis. You know, the new Twitter.

Does anyone like narrative games?

I’m not a good writer (not in the slightest), but that shouldn’t prevent me from being critical of the popular narrative games out there. After trying a lot of them, most of the time I end up not caring at all about the characters, and when I do, the story drags on for way too long. I have played many of these games while doing research for making my plugin Dialogic. At this point, I can’t say I’m a fan of the genre. I do, however, believe that is because it has been wildly underutilized, so I think it does have a lot of potential. Recently, while making my own narrative game, I’ve been thinking a lot about it, so I wanted to write down some thoughts.

Goodbye Spotify

Rites of Spring

Lately I’ve been obsessing a little bit with time perception. There is this VSauce video which covers the topic quite well, but one of the things that really stuck with me is the story of the time traveler.

My first GDC

This year it was my first time attending the Game Developers Conference (GDC). To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much from it. When I searched for videos/coverage or blogs about it, it all felt really confusing. Once you are there, things click, and you start to understand the hype.

Why are we here?

So, since Twitter is not what it used to be, and I feel a bit weird taking part of a website led by a person who represents everything I don’t like in the world, I made my website look like social media.
